When Was the Last Time? – Those Feelings that Make Life Worth the Living
Mood Music: The Sweetest Taboo By Sade
I’ve been in an incredibly bad mood all this week. So, I sat down and contemplated all those moments that are worth living for and waiting on. Moments that make, to quote Sade, “Everyday feel like Christmas and every night like New Year’s Eve'”.
Here’s what I came up with.
When Was The Last Time?
When was the last time you were made to feel beautiful?
So much so that you gave yourself another look in the mirror and decided it was true ?
When was the last time someone held your hand? Not just grabbed at it, but held your hand to the point you felt a certain tenderness you’d forgotten existed?
When was the last time someone opened a door for you? Not just held it open like an obligation, but opened it in a way that made the doors of the gas station feel like heaven’s gates?
When was the last time you had a hug? Not that side-ways quick action, but a full-frontal hug? Where you bury your face in the shoulders of the giver and if for only a moment feel completely safe?
When was the last time you laughed at a good joke? That laughter that makes you topple over onto the floor and your stomach hurt so badly you fear you might die of sheer joy?
When was the last time you had a conversation with someone and you truly talked? Where you didn’t feel like you were talking too much are too little? Where it didn’t feel stale or forced, but flowed so naturally you walked away feeling totally nourished?
When was the last time you influenced someone positively and they came back and told you the real impact you made on their life?
When was the last time someone held you? Gathered you in their arms like an infant and totally rocked your troubles away?
When was the last time you felt sexy? That brand of sexy that gives you the confidence to change the way you walk, and let your hips relax with your strut?
When was the last time you felt totally yourself with another person? No filter and pretty words- just you, all of you?
When was the last time you felt cherished? Like something precious to another person? Something someone couldn’t live without?
When was the last time you liked you? When you just decided, “I have my flaws, but I am not so bad after all?”
When was the last time someone looked at you with adoration? Head cocked to the sided and hearts in eyes- emoji style?
When was the last time you really liked your outfit? I mean liked it to the point you were pissed when it was time to take it off?
When was the last time your heart was touched. So absolutely touched you felt a part of you melt?
When was the last time you danced to a song alone? Danced wildly and found crazy joy in the deed?
When was the last time you were kissed? Not pecked, but kissed? Kissed so passionately and wonderfully you though the world around you what set ablaze?
When was the last time you felt alive? Like you could conquer the world and run a marathon in the same night?
When was the last time that your existence mattered? To you? To those around you? But especially you?
When was the last time you heard or said, “I love you?” And meant it.
If you have lived a life that included any of these moments, you are far richer than many.
Live everyday seeking to enjoy the comfort these simple moments arouse.
Catch your next moment and fall in love with the feeling of being alive. No matter how badly you feel, no matter how long it’s been since you have been made to feel good, know that one day you’ll feel that spark again and be happy to have chosen life.
