Song Study: Stevie Wonder’s ‘Ribbon In the Sky’ and Twin Flame Love
In 1982, the legendary artist Stevie Wonder released his beautiful hit song Ribbon in the Sky in support of his album Stevie Wonder’s Original Musiquarium I.
This song has been one of my favorites for practically my entire life and Steveland Hardaway Morris AKA Stevie Wonder has been one of my favorite artists just as long.
Just recently when I was thinking of this song and the gorgeous lyrics, I realized that this piece is about twin flame love.
Like I’ve stated before (click to read article), well-known psychologist Carl Jung believed in the concept of the collective unconscious which is a collective unit of all human instincts and archetypes.
I always felt that when a creative person – songwriter, author, or artist- creates and enters into a flow state, these individuals leave this three dimensional reality and tap into the collective unconscious or the akashic records (all human events-present, past, and future).
Wonder like many other artists, accidentally tapped into the human collective unconscious or the akashic records and wrote about the beautiful meeting of twin flames for Ribbon in the Sky.
Again, muddle with me through the mud and see how Wonder’s Ribbon in the Sky explains the stunning meeting of twin flames in physical reality.
Oh so long for this night I prayed
That a star would guide you my way
To share with me this special day
Where a ribbon’s in the sky for our love
If allowed may I touch your hand
And if pleased may I once again
So that you too will understand
There’s a ribbon in the sky for our love
In this verse, Stevie admits to previously praying that a star would guide his twin flame to him and it happened.
Bibically, the Star of David guided the wise men to baby Jesus. Stars in history are depicted as guiding lights to something magical or special.
Wonder says that upon this magical meeting there was a ribbon in the sky for the couple’s love. A ribbon in the sky (perhaps another term for rainbow) is simply a sign that it was kismet for the pair to meet.
Much like the rainbow in the Bible that made a beautiful promise after the great flood, there’s a sign in the sky that the couple’s love was fated.
Wonder also asks to touch his mystic lady’s hand so she would understand that their love was truly meant to be. The touch between twin flames, especially the first, is supposed to be electric.
Wonder desires to touch his twin’s hand so she could feel the spark of their energy reunited and remember the love they have always shared.
People, who know or know of each other, might have realized something felt a little different about their connection, but they have no idea they are twin flames until they have a major spiritual awakening. Sometimes one twin is more aware of the situation than the other.
Stevie appears to be the “woke” twin in this particular romantic allegory.
This is not a coincidence
And far more than a lucky chance
But what is that was always meant
Is our ribbon in the sky for our love,
Love, we can’t lose with God on our side.
We’ll find strength in each tear we cry.
From now on it will be you and I.
And our ribbon in the sky,
Ribbon in the sky,
A ribbon in the sky for our love!
In this verse, Wonder wants his lady to know this supernatural occurrence is not a minor conscience. The love between the pair was always meant to be, from the dawn of time, like all twin flame love.
Wonder expresses that the lovers can not lose with God on their side. Twin flames are supposed to be forces fashioned by God, created to change the course of the entire world! Naturally God would be on the twin’s side if indeed twin flame love exists.
Stevie says that once the pair comes into union, they will find strength in the tears they cry and this is true.
The twin flame union is about healing and vetting, healing and vetting until the couple has no ego, just love unconditional. Love that ruins over so much it heals others.
Over and over Wonder pleads for his twin to not forget that there is a ribbon in the sky for their love.
To Wonder, this isn’t make-believe, this isn’t a game- their love predates time and was always meant to be.
