Daily Devotional – Praise
It feels incredibly good to be praised, especially for the things that we do for others. There is nothing like giving someone a gift or doing them a favor and hearing them sing your praises afterward.
It is wonderful to know that the things you so graciously did had an impact. People can be internally grateful for us all day, but we have no idea of their feelings until they verbalize them to us.
We are designed in the image of God (Genesis 1: 26), therefore God too enjoys hearing our praise. That’s right, God wants us to verbalize our gratitude to Him for the things that He does. Praise touches the heart of God, just as it touches the heart of man.
David is biblically reported as being a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22) and I believe the reason is because he was a man who not only had a close relationship with God, but he was not ashamed to praise God openly. Most of Psalms is written by David which stands as a testament to David’s continual praise of God.
Like David, we must become women and men striving toward the heart of God with our praise. Today make time to praise God for his continually goodness and mercy toward us.
“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalms 34: 1-4
