The Beautiful Ones: Why People Like Prince Die Young
Mood Music: Sometimes it Snows in April by Prince
Like every other person on earth, I’ve been thinking about Prince a lot lately. Though the tragic passing of the iconic artist was months ago, time doesn’t seem to register in my heart.
Is it because I’m so tragically saddened by his passing? No, I’m actually over that part. The reason I think about Prince is because he reminds me of a lot of other people I’ve known- some personally and some who have just touched my life with their music or artistry.
We all know those people, someone who on a general principle has a heart of solid gold, but struggles with the whole light/dark good/evil heaven/hell battle. To be corny, I’ll call them the Beautiful Ones.
The Beautiful Ones: Who They Appear to Be
The Beautiful Ones usually have the brightest smiles in public. They are Highly Sensitive people who notice if you need to talk or are cold. Their hugs are the warmest, their lives are the most touching.
Everything about the Beautiful Ones publicly is poetry. They have thousands of friends on social media and always have a cool social event to attend on the weekends. They are interesting, prolific, and caring. Their attention is focused outwardly and in a crowd of a thousand people they can make you feel like number one.
Who they Really Are
The tragedy lies in the fact that no one truly knows the Beautiful Ones. They usually feel that their personal lives aren’t important to others.
Even if they view it as important, they still believe that their cross is too heavy to lay on the shoulders of those closest to them.
The Beautiful Ones live the dream in the crow, but struggle behind closed doors. Even in the mist of all their personal anguish they will mask any hurt in the presence of others and project an air of confidence.
The Beautiful Ones are the most insecure, loneliest, saddest individuals you may know. They constantly fight with their darker selves and to suppress the pain they may self-medicate with vices like sex, drugs, or alcohol.
Even if they choose not to seek out negative vices, they are usually so hard on themselves that cancer and various forms of autoimmune diseases come into play.
How they Cope
The Beautiful Ones are very remorseful of their closeted behaviors and that is when charity and religion take place in their lives.
They immerse themselves in holy texts or good deeds to make up for all they feel they lack.
That is why most of Prince’s catalog is either sensuous sex or glory to God. They usually lack confidence, love praise, but paradoxically feel they are not worthy of it.
In The End
In the end “The Beautiful Ones you always seem to lose.”
Thought their lives are never long, it is fiery and impassioned. They love hard and are fiercely protective and loyal to the ones they love.
They are the brightest comets in the night sky and when they are gone, one realizes how dark it is without them present.
Grieving for the Beautiful Ones is the most bitter and sad journey one can ever face. “Cars like that don’t pass you every day.”
Rest in Peace to all the Beautiful Ones- Prince, you are missed.
