A Prayer of Gratefulness
Mood Music: Never Alone by: Tori Kelly
This is a prayer that I wrote years ago in a prayer journal and stumbled upon it recently. I thought I would share it with you on this Sunday evening, because it might apply to your life and situation. Hopefully, it blesses your soul.
So often so I ask you for things. I write long letters mimicking eloquence in want, but never have I just told you ‘thank you’.
Lord, thank you for today. Thank your for the bed I lie upon and the pen I use as I write. Thank you for your kindness, your mercy, and taking care of me when I didn’t take care of myself.
My faith is so limited, while my God is so BIG!
You have blessed me beyond my dreams, and loved me far more than I have loved myself. You wanted me while I hated your creation. You cheered for me when I didn’t cheer for myself. You are merciful. You are mighty.
While I can fill up 100,000 pages in wants, I have a hard time writing a fourth of a page in thanks. So tonight, instead of asking you for anything, I want to pause and just thank you.
You have a plan for me far greater than the plan I have for myself. You love and encourage me even when I don’t see or feel it. Your angels lead and guide me and your peace abides even when I forget how to access it.
Your kindness is always with me. You are long suffering with me and I appreciate it.
I want to be so big and arrogant, seated upon my high horse, truly believing that it is with my own grace that I go, but you have blessings awaiting me long before I even see them.
You are God of a second, a third, and a hundredth chance – long suffering, loving, kind and gentle.
You want me and for that I am grateful even though I don’t understand why.
You have a place for me at your table. You have a lamp that illuminates my path. You have grace for my heart, comfort for my soul, love that surrounds me, and angels that protect me.
I am special to you and I feel it, I appreciate it, and my Lord, I am eternally thankful that you are my God alone.
I believe that the Lord rejoices with our gratitude. Soul Squad what are thankful for? Comment below via Facebook profile or as a wordpress guest. Let me know what you are most thankful for.
